Bipartisan plan would increase American energy supply while decreasing demand.

John Kennedy today put election-year talking points and partisan posturing ahead of commonsense and real solutions for the American people. After United States Senator Mary Landrieu, D-La., and the Gang of Ten announced a plan to lower gas prices by increasing supply and reducing demand, John Kennedy condemned this bipartisan group of five Republicans and five Democrats.

"All Mr. Kennedy knows how to do is play politics," Landrieu campaign spokesman Scott Schneider said. "This is just another baseless political attack. John Kennedy is always a politician.

"The bipartisan Gang of Ten's energy plan opens up to two hundred million new acres on the outer continental shelf to oil and gas production. John Kennedy must oppose that. It moves Americans into alternative vehicles. John Kennedy must oppose that. It increases oil supply while decreasing demand. He must oppose that too.

"The people of Louisiana want real solutions and a Senator that can deliver them. Mr. Kennedy has made his campaign theme clear: politics first, people second."
