My earmark is prettier than your earmark”

In the confusing world of “say as I do, not do what I say”, Louisiana US Senator, David Vitter, marks the lead.

Then, nobody lately has recently accused him of being intellectually honest. It is the same type of brazen hypocrisy that has marked his pitiful post-Katrina days and his DC Madam ducking.

According to theHill.com, the Louisiana Senator is the fifth-biggest recipient of earmarked funds in the Congress.

Yes, this is the same US Senator who has railed against spending for all of the emergency measures since our economy’s collapse yet who appears to be inching towards voting “no” on the Omnibus bill being debated in Washington DC, while sporting his own big earmarks--in the same measure.

Ironically, Vitter was the main benefactor of Treasurer John Kennedy who’s main plank in his own US Senate run last year was to eliminate Congressional earmarks altogether. Indeed, Louisiana US Senator Mary Landrieu tops the list of Democrats sponsoring earmarks but then, she has never shied away from claiming that she supports earmarks and other money for her constituents hit hard by recent hurricanes.

Her ability to deliver funds to Louisiana during its critical time of need was one of the main reasons she was re-elected in 2008. Now, Vitter must show he is worth his local public worth while not being caught in a web of “double-speak”.

In a recent e-mail promoting himself, Sen. Vitter said, “As if the enormous amounts of government spending wasn’t enough” as he referred to his efforts to block automatic pay raises for Congress.

Not surprisingly, Vitter has been publically sending out countless emails as he appears beatable in his US Senate.

In a recent poll, sponsored by a new Research 2000 poll, the “so-called” social and fiscal conservative is scoring below 50%--even before his opponents raise Vitter’s skirting of discussion associated with the DC Madam and prostitution affairs.

Unquestionably, Louisiana is in critical need for infrastructure which makes his role as the “Louisiana symbol” untenable as he leads the fiscal line while lining up for federal dollars and while threatening to vote “nyet” for the Omnibus bill that would allow those specific Vitter earmark payments.

Despite Sen. Vitter’s conflicting fiscal and social policies, no names have emerged as serious contenders for his US Senate seat. Meanwhile, expect Vitter to will hide the facts of his former affairs while feeding his blind supporters “hot-button” issues while failing to disclose his earmarks as he sends out emails promoting himself as the great anti-Obama and pro-Louisiana crusader.

By now, few expect much more from the junior Louisiana US Senator who frequently speaks one thing and does another. Vitter might voice the fantasies as being the chief renegade, but his actions, all too often, speak much louder than his very own words.
